Here’s my recipe for developing mental toughness. And no I haven’t been able to complete this myself … yet.
1. Walk into a quiet, unoccupied room and turn the lights off.
2. Sit down and close your eyes.
3. Do not move any part of your body – except for allowing the normal breathing mechanism to function
4. In your head, SLOWLY count to 5000 (if you count at a 1 second pace your time will be around 1 1/2 hours)
5. If you stray in your thinking or move at all, start the count over.
